Hi, I’m Kellie!

I am a ceramic artist, art teacher, and digital marketing manager currently living in the Hudson Valley! While my educational background is in mental health counseling and neuroscience, my passion is creating with clay and working to inspire young artists. In addition, I am also passionate about improving accessibility within the arts by providing a safe space for neurodiverse individuals to create! Within my own art, my inspiration is drawn from my academic interests and the beautiful nature the surrounds my home in Westchester, New York.

My Background

Art was present very early in my life, drawing and painting taking up much of my free time. My educational endeavors led me into the sciences in my teenage years, where my central focus shifted to my work in a brain research lab. I then went on to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from Lafayette College (2023) where I reconnected with art. Having the opportunity to purse art as a minor, I was able to take a sculpture class. Working with clay for the first time since my childhood was a key point in my creative journey, serving as the first medium that I felt connected to. In addition, I had the opportunity to integrate my neuroscience coursework with my art through an independent study my senior year. Through a variety of mediums, I became inspired by the organic structures of the brain that I studied in the classroom and then created abstract and tactile iterations of these structures in the studio.

After receiving my undergraduate degree, I went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University (2025). Will pursuing this degree, I was given the opportunity to work in the office of a pottery studio. This allowed me to build upon the few weeks of clay experience and learn how to throw on the wheel. Working with such a natural and ancient medium like clay provides endless possibilities and my goal is to expand my ceramic knowledge as much as possible. Since, I have begun formally teaching clay classes and workshops at Railyard Arts Studio. Ceramics has become a passion of mine and I am so lucky to get to share that through my work.

Much of my own work emanates neurological and natural forms.
My academic background in neuroscience and mental health are deeply integrated into my practices as an artist and art teacher.
